Classes Offered:

Foundation 1

This class focuses on basic obedience and developing foundation skills necessary for training in Dog Agility.  Clicker training will be introduced along with various Pre-Agility foundation training methods.  Dogs will be introduced to some of the agility equipment.  Focus will be on fun and positive reinforcement training methods!

​This is NOT an obedience class.

Pre-Requisite:  Dogs must be able to perform the following commands OFF LEASH in order to participate.  Sit, Down, Stay, Come and also be Crate/Pen trained.  Dogs that need to learn the basics of obedience commands, will need to start with a Basic Obedience class. Foundation 2

This class is a continuation of what was learned in Foundation 1.  Dogs will continue to learn and train on the various agility obstacles utilized in Dog Agility.  Handlers will be taught basic footwork as well as basic handling maneuvers.  Focus will be on fun and positive reinforcement training methods!

Pre-Requisite:  Foundation 1. Dogs must be able to perform the following commands OFF LEASH in order to participate.  Sit, Down, Stay, Come and also be Crate/Pen trained.

Beginning Agility

This class is a continuation of Foundation 2 training.  Dogs will continue to build their skills learned in the previous class.  Handlers will continue to learn basic footwork and continue developing the handling skills necessary in running a course in Dog Agility.  Dogs and Handlers will be running small sequences.  Focus will be on developing the necessary skills utilized in dog agility while maintaining positive reinforcement training methods. 

 

​Pre-Requisite:  Open to dogs that have completed Foundation 2 training.

*New students with prior experience from another training facility may be qualified to enter after your dog has been evaluated by the instructor.  A private evaluation session will be required to discuss your skill level and to determine which class is appropriate for you and your dog to join.

Advanced Agility

This class is a continuation of Beginning Agility.  Handlers will utilize the handling skills developed in the earlier class.  New skills and drills will be taught to build more advanced handling moves.  Dogs and Handlers will be running more advanced sequences and then building to more complex courses as students become more confident in the skills learned.

​Pre-Requisite:  Open to dogs that have completed Beginning Agility training.

*New students with prior experience from another training facility may be qualified to enter after your dog has been evaluated by the instructor.  A private evaluation session will be required to discuss your skill level and to determine which class is appropriate for you and your dog to join.

Masters Level Agility

This training is for dogs and handlers that have displayed a good working knowledge of obstacles and handling skills required to run a course.  The courses and sequences will be more challenging for both the dog and handler with more complex sequencing.  The Masters Level Agility will utilize course work seen at agility trials.  Focus will be on creating proficiency and accuracy in dog and handler teamwork.

Pre-Requisite:  Open to dogs that have graduated from Intermediate Agility.

*New students with prior experience from another training facility may be qualified to enter after your dog has been evaluated by the instructor.  A private evaluation session will be required to discuss your skill level and to determine which class is appropriate for you and your dog to join.

Specialty Classes

Periodically, specialized seminars or training classes will be offered.  These classes consist of many of the games that are offered in both USDAA, UKI  and AKC agility trials.  Games such as Gamble, FAST, and Snooker will be taught in a limited week session.  These specialized classes are for students who are at the Intermediate to Masters level.  All dogs and handlers must have the skills and experience necessary to handle more challenging courses.  Focus will be on learning the various games and gaining the expertise to navigate the courses and or games.   For more information on upcoming specialty classes, email HotShotDogSports@gmail.com.
