What is Rally?
Rally obedience is a dog sport that combines elements of obedience with a more relaxed, encouraging environment. In rally, dogs and handlers navigate a course marked with numbered signs, each indicating a specific exercise to perform. Rally emphasizes teamwork and communication, with handlers allowed to use verbal encouragement, hand signals and praise throughout the course. Rally focuses on the bond between dog and handler, encouraging communication and positive reinforcement. Handlers and dogs move through a course consisting of 10 to 20 numbered signs. The signs direct the pair to perform various obedience exercises, such as sits, downs, stays, turns and changes of pace. Rally is a fun and engaging activity for both dogs and handlers. It also serves as a great introduction to other canine sports like obedience and agility. Rally is a sport that welcomes dogs of all breeds and ages.
